All About CAN ACT
|
CAN ACT,
Caldwell and Nampa Alliance of Community Theatre, was started in 1991, when three
actors, Toni
Mendoza, Nancy Richards, and Marilyn Gunderson, decided to put the group
together to provide an outlet for talented people in the area that didn't involve a drive to Boise.
|
The First CAN ACT production was the Agatha Christy murder mystery
The Mouse Trap and was performed at
Vallievue High School. After that,
CAN ACT began
doing dinner theatre at The Dutch Inn in Nampa. The first production there
was LETS
MURDER
MARSHA , written by Monk Ferris.

In 1996, after
four seasons of dinner theatre, the groups desire to expand lead them to Karcher Mall . Where they opened
their season
with DRACULA, THE MUSICAL, written by Ted Tiller. The Karcher location has
served CAN ACT and theatre goings very well. For the first time the group
was able to
store props and rehearse at one place. No more midnight trips in the dark
to cold storage units or lugging flats and risers from show to show. Thank you God, and Karcher Mall!
|
The shows and performances CAN ACT has presented over the last 16 years
have been some fun, some not so fun. But that's show biz folks.
|
The one thing that has been a
constant is CAN ACT's dedication to quality and making the next show
better than
the last. Many friendships have grown from having a shared theatre life.
Yes, sometimes
it is your life, but it also can feel like home and family. CAN ACT thinks
of their audience as part of that family and understands that together we make it
complete. And
for that, we thank you, and you and you. |
